Vivian + Jake: The Wedding

The best word to describe Viv and Jake's wedding would have to be "BOOM." The couple had their ceremony at the Richmond Friends Meeting House, and celebrated with an amazing brunch reception at Balliceaux.

 

 

 

Sneak Peak

Philadelphia Skyline

Ad Age recently stopped by Red Tettemer + Partners to film the office. My favorite part is the view from the 25th floor.

Printmaking

I recently came across some fun prints I did during my senior year at SCAD. The colorful back ground was created by smearing ink onto glass and transferring the ink to the paper. After the background dried, I ran a lithograph print of Savannah street scenes.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park

On our drive back from Knoxville, TN we stopped by the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The scenery was incredible and provided some much need relaxation.

James Scott Mansion

The James Scott Mansion is a Richardsonian Romanesque style house built in early twentieth century and destroyed by a fire in the 1970s. If you're in Detroit, it's located in the Cass Corridor at the SE corner of Park and Peterboro.

@ The Race Track

I loved going to Golden Gate Fields when I lived in the bay area. Partly for the dollar beers on Sunday, and partly for the two dollar bets on horses with names like Bustamove.

A Walk in the Park

Buster and I have been discovering more of Royal Oak through our walks around the neighborhood. I love the park near the railroad tracks so I decided to photograph it.

Hanging Gardens

The Forest Arms Building was one of Detroit’s most lavish apartment buildings when it was built in 1908. It later housed many Wayne State college students until a fire damaged the building in February of 2008.

Scott Lowell owns The Forest Arms Building and a restaurant favorite of mine, Traffic Jam & Snug. He is thankfully trying to save the building and has already begun the beginning stages of renovation.

Team Detroit, a local ad agency, decided to create Detroit’s first vertical garden on the building as part of a volunteer beautification effort. They’re working with UCCA and Greening of Detroit to make it all happen.

Artist Profile: William Irving Singer

I had the opportunity to meet and photograph painter William Irving Singer back in May. I wanted to share the results of our session as well as his perspective on being a young artist living in Detroit:

Detroit may not be first place that comes to mind for a recent college graduate to start his career, but it is for painter, William Irving Singer, 24. “It's a great place to get started," he told me while giving a tour of his large $238/month studio in the Cass Corridor near downtown. "Detroit's got a bad rep, but spend a month here, and you'll realize it's not as bad as people say." Singer found that Detroit also has a lot of open doors when it comes to finding a studio and locating supplies. “My landlord made it easy for me to move in and was open to my suggestions.” Singer was also surprised at how many friends and neighbors stopped by his studio to drop off antique books and photographs for inspiration. “You can really do what you want here, and people will support you."

Detroit People Mover

Detroit's mass transport system, the People Mover was built in 1987 and runs in a 2.9 mile circle around downtown. I hadn't take the DPM before—opting to walk instead, but since my sister was in town we decided to pay the 50 cent fare and try it out. We ended up seeing Detroit with a really great view.

Off to Wisconsin

I'm heading to Madison to see my two lovely friends start the rest of their lives together. I can't wait to see all of their beautiful wedding details come together.

Highland Recreational Area, MI

Fisher 21 Body Plant

The Fisher 21 Body Plant was built in 1906 and produced car bodies until the mid-70's. The plant has since remained vacant.
