Equal Rights Put on Hold, What Would Harvey Think?

More than 30 years have gone by since Harvey Milk’s death, yet equal rights are moving backward. Today, the California Supreme Court upheld Proposition 8 by a majority of 6 to 1. I do not believe the justices thought Proposition 8 was justifiable or reasonable. Chief Justice George seemed regretful, when he wrote that “our task in the present proceeding is not to determine whether the provision at issue is wise or sound as a matter of policy or whether we, as individuals, believe it should be a part of the California Constitution.” California voted for Prop 8 because a leader for gay rights did not emerge. We desperately need a new advocate like Harvey Milk. Obama ran on the promise of hope and change and I hope he soon provides everyone with equal rights, including the right to marry. As Milk once said, “Hope will never be silent.”

East Coast Meets West Coast

My New Yorker friends are in town and we've had so much fun! Feifei brought Crumbs Cupcakes straight from NYC. So delicious and special. I kindly shared with my lucky friends. We also stopped by the Mission for drinks at Zeigist.

Bay to Breakers

Since 1912, San Franciscans have been putting on their running shoes and joining the party. Although some run the race seriously, most use the race as another excuse to get naked. I took a more conservative approach and decided to be a dinosaur. RAWR!

Out of the Mission and into the Richmond

I spent my first night in the Richmond last night! It's super quiet. No fire trucks, police chases, or screaming drunks yet. I will miss all the charming shops, super burritos, and sushi The Mission has to offer. I really hate to say goodbye to heart-shaped mocha lattes from Four Barrel Coffee. Sigh.

Home Sweet Detroit

My first cross-stitch is completed and ready to be hung!

Next on my list is an Obama-themed embroidery. I still can not believe he is my president!
The Huffington Post's Obama PDA page really makes my day.
