James Scott Mansion

The James Scott Mansion is a Richardsonian Romanesque style house built in early twentieth century and destroyed by a fire in the 1970s. If you're in Detroit, it's located in the Cass Corridor at the SE corner of Park and Peterboro.

  1. That's actually not a mansion... That is Scott's Folly... A way for an eccentric man of means to punish a stubborn neighbor, unwilling to sell Scott his parcel. Scott's folly: Build this "mansion" (which was only a shell affixed to a masonry wall) to obstruct his neighbors view!.... Not much info on the net about this one... Your picture is one of the best I have seen of this white elephant.... As a Detroiter I usually find this type of photography a little morbid... Your pics show a lighter side to ruin.
